The Greenfield Police Department’s St. Patrick’s Day Alcohol Mobilization Patrol last night resulted in the arrest of five suspected
drunken drivers within a three hour period, three of them within about thirty minutes.
At 11:39 PM officers stopped a 39 year old Milwaukee man at 68th and Forest Home Avenue for a for traffic violation. The man was subsequently arrested for suspected drunken driving. He was also found to be on parole for narcotics violations and is a felony offender with a lengthy criminal record dating back some 20 years. He was subsequently turned over to the Milwaukee County Jail for violating his parole.
At 1:20 AM, officers stopped a 41 year old West Allis man after he was observed driving at a high rate of speed southbound on Hwy 100. The man
was subsequently arrested for suspected drunken driving. This driver was also found to be a felony offender on probation for child support violations. He was subsequently turned over to the Milwaukee
County Jail for violating his probation.
At 1:28 Am, officers stopped a 46 year old Milwaukee man in the 4100 block of West Loomis Road for a traffic violation. The man was subsequently
arrested for suspected drunken driving and blew more than .20 on a breath test (nearly three times the legal limit). This individual was cited for 1st Offense Operating While Intoxicated and released to a sober adult.
At 1:56 Am, officers stopped a 26 year old Greendale man in the 4900 block of South 84th Street for a traffic violation. The man was subsequently arrested for suspected drunken driving and taken to a local hospital for a blood test. This individual was cited for 1st Offense Operating While Intoxicated and released to a sober adult.
At 2:47 Am, officers stopped a 24 year old Milwaukee man in the 2700 block of West Coldspring Road for a traffic violation. The man was subsequently
arrested for suspected drunken driving and blew more than .20 on a breath test (nearly three times the legal limit). This individual was cited for 1st Offense Operating While Intoxicated and released to a sober adult.
The officers involved were conducting an targeted Alcohol Mobilization Patrol on St. Patrick’s Day under a grant from the Wisconsin Department
of Transportation. The grant aims to reduce alcohol related crashes through targeted, sustained enforcement efforts. In 2007, alcohol was listed as a contributing factor in nearly 7% of all crashes and
45% of fatal crashes. 337 people died in these crashes.
