ONE DEAD, ONE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN GREENFIELD MOTORCYCLE CRASH

At 12:57 AM, Greenfield police officers responded to a report of a motorcycle crash at South 68th and West Forest Home Avenue.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered the male driver of the motorcycle, a 21 year old Milwaukee man, with extensive traumatic injuries including the traumatic amputation of an arm and extremely severe abdominal injuries. He was taken by paramedics to Froedtert Memorial Hospital where he later died.

The motorcycle passenger, a 30 year old Milwaukee woman also suffered extensive, traumatic injuries and is currently being treated at Froedtert. Her condition is not known at this time.

Initial investigation at the scene shows that the motorcycle was southbound on 68th Street from Forest Home Avenue at a high rate of speed when the man lost control, striking a concrete median. Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle. The driver struck a street sign, where his arm was amputated and he came to rest on south 68th Street.

The motorcycle came to rest two blocks farther south on 68th Street.

Based on witness statements, speed is an obvious factor in the crash. Investigators are trying to determine is alcohol played a part as well.

No additional information will be released at this time as this is an active, ongoing investigation. We expect to release the names of the parties later today.
