Andy’s Gas Station robbed, three subjects in custody
(Greenfield) – On Tuesday July 22, 2008 at approximately 10:52AM the Andy’s gas station located in the 4600 block of S 27th St. was robbed. The three suspects involved were arrested shortly after fleeing the business and are currently being questioned by Greenfield Police.
At 10:52AM two male subjects entered the Andy’s gas station, one subject poured hot coffee into a cup and then threw it in the face of the lone
station employee. One subject then brandished a handgun and the other subject displayed a knife. The subjects then demanded money and also took cigarettes, and lottery tickets. Prior to leaving the business the
subjects took the employee’s cell phone and disabled the phone in the business. The two subjects then fled the business on foot in a south westerly direction toward the Target parking lot located in the 4700
blk of S 27th St.
Greenfield Police Officer Tom Roszak was on routine patrol when he was flagged down by the gas station employee just after the robbery occurred.
Officer Roszak obtained a description of the subjects involved and immediately responded to the Target parking lot where he observed the subjects and was able to take one of the subjects into custody. The second
subject fled on foot and was arrested a short time later by other Greenfield Officers who responded to the scene.
Further investigation located a third subject involved and a vehicle that was to be used as a get away vehicle. The vehicle had been reported stolen
from the City of Franklin.
The gun, money, and other items taken from the robbery were recovered.
The gas station employee received minor burns to his face from the coffee but refused medical treatment.
Greenfield Police are continuing to investigate, further information will be released upon completion of the investigation.
