DETECTIVES TO VISIT SEX OFFENDERS IN ADVANCE OF HALLOWEEN
Friday, October 10, 2008
Greenfield Police Department Detectives today will begin the process of visiting every registered sex offender who is on probation or parole supervision, living in the city of Greenfield, in advance of
Halloween activities.
During these personal visits, detectives will remind sex offenders that probation and parole rules require them to remain indoors a minimum of one hour before and one hour following locally scheduled
Halloween events, unless a previously approved work schedule or treatment attendance has been verified and approved by their supervising agent.
Greenfield’s city-wide trick-or-treat is scheduled for Sunday, October 26th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.
Sex offenders will be advised that neither they, nor other occupants in their residence should give any indication to the public that they are participating in trick-or-treat activities (e.g., their
front porch light is not to be turned on during trick-or-treating).
During Greenfield’s trick-or-treat event, additional police officers will be assigned to neighborhood foot and
bicycle patrols and will be monitoring sex offender residences for compliance.
Parents are reminded to escort and supervise young children during trick-or-treat. Children should never trick-or-treat
alone.
