At 9:45 AM this morning, Greenfield officers responded to a report of an armed bank robbery that had just occurred at the TCF Bank, 4375 South 76th Street.
Witnesses reported two black males entered the bank armed with handguns and robbed the tellers at gunpoint. The suspects were reported to be very violent and
aggressive.
An off-duty Milwaukee Police Department Officer was in the bank at the time of the robbery and was able to provide an excellent description of the suspects and
fleeing vehicle.
As the vehicle fled from the scene south on 76th Street, witnesses reported smoke coming from the vehicle and red dye-stained money blowing around the street.
At about 9:55AM, an alert Greenfield officer (Officer Michael Reddick…18 year veteran)at South 27th and West Howard Avenue saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle from the bank robbery. The suspects pulled into the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy at 27 & Howard where two suspects fled into the store and one was taken into custody in the vehicle. Responding backup officers entered the store and took the other two suspects into custody without incident.
All three suspects are in custody at the Greenfield Police Department. Officers have also recovered the handguns believed to be used in the robbery.
South 76th was shut down for more than an hour as officers worked to retrieve dye-stained money from the roadway and surrounding area. The Greenfield Police Department asks that anyone finding dye-stained money in the area of 76th and Forest Home turn it in at the Greenfield Police Department or call 414-761-5300.
No additional information will be released regarding this investigation as it is ongoing and fluid.
